2019 NBA Playoffs: Second Round Predictions

After a lengthy, but exciting first round, the NBA Playoffs marches on to the second round. Both conferences are down to their last four teams. Each team has a shot of making it to the next round. But who will survive? Let’s take a look at each match-up, starting with the Eastern Conference.

Second Round Predictions

EASTERN CONFERENCE

1 Milwaukee Bucks vs. 4 Boston Celtics

The Celtics dominated the Bucks in game one of this series. The held the Bucks in check and stole the game on the Bucks’ court. It seems like the Celtics are playing the way most fans and experts expected them to. The Bucks find themselves under pressure. Many expected them to reach the next round. They have the roster to compete with the Celtics. Game one was an anomaly. The Bucks will bounce back and show why they are the best team in the NBA.

Prediction: Bucks in 7

2 Toronto Raptors vs. 3 Philadelphia 76ers

Both teams were able to impose their will defensively in their victories. The starting lineup for both teams are impressive. However, the Raptors have the advantage due to their depth. Their bench is more capable of playing better than the 76ers’ bench. Also, Kawhi Leonard has been dominant so far. He is averaging 35 points per game in this series so far.

Prediction: Raptors in 7

WESTERN CONFERENCE

1 Golden State Warriors vs. 4 Houston Rockets

This is the most difficult match-up to predict. The Warriors survived game one in controversial fashion. The Rockets have the tools to dethrone the Warriors. However, Rockets all-star James Harden still struggles in high-pressure games, especially against the Warriors. In game one, Harden 9-28 from the field. As of right now, Harden remains a questionable figure.

Prediction: Warriors in 7

2 Denver Nuggets vs. 3 Portland TrailBlazers

(Denver leads 1-0)

The Nuggets proved in game one that the NBA world should take them seriously. Nuggets center Nikola Jokic had an amazing game, scoring 37 points. But, they are not ready to take that next step. They are playing a Blazers team who are very deep. Also, Damian Lillard is unstoppable right now. The Nuggets struggled to put away the San Antonio Spurs. The Blazers are better and more dynamic on offense.
