Top 5 Hot Girl Summer Songs

Hot Girl Summer

noun;

  1. a period of time in which a female is at her peak of sexiness, is independent and is most likely acting up while living her best life. Created by rapper Megan Thee Stallion.

It’s not really a Hot Girl Summer till you have two amazing rappers dropping a single together. So, in honor of Nicki Minaj driving the boat with new rap sensation Megan Thee Stallion on their new single, “Hot Girl Summer”, we’re throwing it back to some female rap collaborations that gave us Hot Girl Summer vibes before it ever really was a thing. Get ready for some throwbacks and some surprisingly slept on songs.

I Wanna Be Down- Brandy ft. MC Lyte, Queen Latifah and Yoyo

Why make an R&B song about what you want in a man when you can just rap about it? Queen Latifah, MC Lyte and Yoyo don’t shy away from what exactly it takes to get their heads turned. Pair up sexy lyrics with Brandy’s beautiful voice and a smooth beat and you got a slow but sexy rap collab. We love confident women that know what it is they want!

Motorsport- Migos ft. Cardi B and Nicki Minaj

Ok, hear me out: both rappers, despite hating each other before, during and after this hit dropped, did their thing. Cardi has a fun and boss-ass-b*tch type verse and Nicki matches her energy with indirect hits. Yes, she does say b*tches are her sons, and yes, she does list her accomplishments one by one. Her verse still goes hard.

Tia Tamera- Doja Cat ft. Rico Nasty

Again, hear me out: hearing Doja Cat and Rico Nasty go on with clever lines about their ahem, twins, is not even the best part about this song. Rico KILLS it; she’s got a flow that’s crazy good and entertaining, and Doja doesn’t fall too far behind. The hook is catchy and proves Doja may not take her songs too seriously, but her talent should be.

 Not Tonight (Ladies Night Remix)- Lil’ Kim, Da Brat, Missy Elliot, Angie Martinez and Lisa ‘Left-Eye’ Lopes

While Lil’ Kim’s original “Not Tonight” was a dirty, x-rated take on boring bedroom antics, the star-studded remix takes a more fun direction. The girls are rapping about having a good time all together and honestly, that’s the most Hot Girl Summer thing ever.

My Chick Bad Remix- Ludacris ft. Diamond, Eve & Trina

Trina, arguably an original Hot Girl, helps spice up Ludacris’ “My Chick Bad” with Diamond and Eve, who ends the song with some pretty savage lines. It’s not crazy like Nicki’s verse was, which could have been a cool shakeup to the remix’s flow (‘it’s nightmare on Elm street/and guess who’s playing Freddie’) but the remix is so intimidatingly sexy and tough that it might just be best to leave it the way it is. Plus, it doesn’t get badder than Trina AND Eve on the same track.
